Malatya; It is located in the Upper Euphrates Basin of the Eastern Anatolia Region and at the southwestern end of the depression area of Adıyaman, Malatya, Elazig, Bingöl, Muş, Van. It is surrounded by Elazığ and Diyarbakır in the east, Adıyaman in the south, Kahramanmaraş in the west, Sivas and Erzincan in the north. The province of Malatya, located in the Upper Euphrates Basin of the Eastern Anatolia Region, has been the scene of settlements since the Neolithic Age due to its geographical location, its location on the historical caravan routes – the famous King’s Road and the Silk Road, and its rich water resources.

Aslantepe Mound, one of the biggest mounds of our country, is located in Orduza district of Malatya. The sculptures unearthed during archaeological excavations here are exhibited in the Anatolian Civilizations Museum in Ankara.
